Studying Abroad While Young
Recently more and more Chinese parents send their children abroad to study. This is not only true for college students but also increasingly true for senior and even junior middle school students.
There are many reasons for this phenomenon. Some parents think their children will get a education abroad, while others want to show off their money , or view studying abroad as a status symbol . For the first reason, though we can’t deny that education levels are higher in America and some European countries , as descendants of the Chinese nation, young people should learn Chinese and its cultural well first . only with good knowledge of their own country can they learn knowledge of other countries better .For the second ,viewing studying abroad as a symbol of wealth and high status is meaningless and the unhealthy purpose may lead to undesirable results.
In my view , studying abroad when the students are too young is not a good idea . young people are still developing their sense of morality and values , and need parents’ guidance and help , while parents can’t do this if their children are studying on the other side of the world.
